Distortion analyzers have traditionally been complicated to use, requiring adjustment of several knobs and switches. Although some of these functions have been automated in previous units, a fully automated high performance analyzer has until now been a dream. A new instrument has been designed which automates all functions, providing state of the art performance with no operator adjustments. Some of the techniques used, as well as problems encountered in the design, will be discussed.
