The Design of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Acoustics Research Laboratory

The design and construction of a facility for conducting research in the acoustics of sound recording and reproduction is presented. The requirements the facility had to meet as well as the original acoustics of the suite of rooms chosen are given. The steps taken to remodel the rooms and their effectiveness are described. Suggestions and guidelines are offered for others who may want to develop similar research facilities.
