Sonalarm-A New Concept in Monitor Control

Document Thumbnail

The operation of almost every type of machinery and every industrial process is accompanied to some degree by a distinctive sound. Usually this sound or noise is regarded as a nuisance-to be reduced if possible and at best tolerated if unavoidable. Very often, however, this sound is an indication of the condition of the process or the proper operation of the machine, and the sound changes in character or in intensity as the process changes. The H. H. Scott SONALARM System puts this -nuisance- sound to good use by sensing the change in sound and calling attention to it. There are many varied applications for the Sonalarm system, such as intrusion alarm, traffic noise surveys, running time indicator, automatic level adjustment on PA systems, voice-operated recorder or transmistter control, etc. The present discussion will deal mainly with monitor and control of machinery or process.
