Recent work, par;ticularly that of Thiele, Small, and Benson, has provided the engineer designing a loudspeaker with powerful new analysis and synthesis techniques. The design process for a loudspeaker is described, beginning with the specification of the system operating parameters based on technical, economic, and legal constraints; continuing with the synthesis of the driver and enclosure parameters; and concluding with the realization of a prototype system.
