Analysis and Synthesis of Musical Instrument Tones

Document Thumbnail

Previous analyses of musical instrument tones by computer have been restricted to tones whose partial structure was nearly harmonic and slowly varying in time. An analysis technique which overcomes these restrictions is introduced and compared with previous approaches. Comparisons of the actual and resynthesized tones show the two to be indistinguishable. Taped examples will be presented.
