Ambiophony, Has Its Time Finally Arrived?

Document Thumbnail

Ambiophony, or electroacoustic enhancement in the form of conventional sound reinforcement and enhancement, is a well-established fact in the live performance of popular music. In the case of classical music concerts, the application of electroacoustic techniques has been limited and in many cases unsatisfactory. Proper application and operation of state-of the-art audio hardware will open a large potential market for electroacoustic enhancement in all types of performing spaces. A recent installation at the Capital Theater in Yakima, Washington, is cited.
