A loudspeaker enclosure whose acoustic response has a second order bandpass filter characteristic is described. The theoretical tradeoff between bandwidth, efficiency, and box volume is given. It is shown that when the system is fed through a suitable first order bandpass electrical filter, a third order acoustical bandpass characteristic can be achieved which is of practical value in certain subwoofer applications.
