Acoustic Energy Transformation in the Human Auditory System

Document Thumbnail

To gain an insight into the intricately timed sequence of acoustic events in the human hearing mechanism, a systems-oriented approach is used to describe the mode of operation of the auditory system. Here the overall system is divided into elemental subsystems, each capable of performing complicated energy transformation involving numerous input-output relationships. This approach is helpful in conveying the enormous complexity of the physiological functions that govern the ear-brain mechanism.
