It is often said that gramophone record cleaning began with the invention of the Dust Bug by that remarkable experimenter the late Cecil Watts, following his examinations of record grooves using his own designs of microscope and special photographic techniques. His patent No.l 817598 of 1957 outlines some of his ideas, a a further study of his work appears in the biography by his widow Agnes Watts.
