Multi-Radiation Speaker System

Document Thumbnail

Conventional multi-way speaker systems use one or more speakers to reproduce one of the divided hands of the audio spectrum. The new speaker system introduced in this paper is a 2-way system having a tweeter that radiates sound in the forward motion. However, this tweeter also has three horns on its back-one facing upward, and two sideways. These horns work as the equivalents of multiple out-of-phase sound sources, and the sounds from these horns eventually join the forward-radiated sound to create the final composite sound of the tweeter. The paper presents a model analysis of how this new tweeter expands the stereo perspective of the speaker system, and reports on its effect through measured data and the impressions obtained at hearing tests.
