A New Underwater Earphone

An earphone, insensitive to depth, has been developed for underwater swimmers. The new earphone which offers substantially broader frequency response and greater loudness level without overloading than conventionally used -inertial earphones- was used successfully in a directional communications receiver for underwater swimmers. Some equal-loudness contours of the man-earphone system were determined.
