Time Compression and Expansion of Speech by the Sampling Method

A brief review of the historical development of speech time compression-expansion techniques and equipment. Recent advances in electronic circuitries, both analog and digital, have made it possible to construct low cost speech time compressor-expanders with good audio quality and very high reliability. Several such methods are discussed.
