Servo-Driven Phonograph Arm
A new phonograph pick-up arm will be described and demonstrated. The pick-up travels in a straight line, remaining tangent to the groove at all times. The arm is carried on a carriage driven by a lead screw. A servo system, employing a small motor, drives the lead screw so that the velocity of the arm is at all times correct for the record and groove spacing being played. An automatic pick-up lift is provided at the end of the record.
