MITSYN-Musical Interactive Tone Synthesis-is a system designed for music composition with an emphasis on control of the tonal structure (timbre) of music. Unlike many computer programs MITSYN allows the composer unfamiliar with computer procedures to approach the system much as one uses an electronic music synthesizer; the system processes signals using a set of primitive operations (modules) which are patched together in combinations to provide a wide variety of tone colors.
