Playback Losses and the Design of Wideband Phonograph Pickups
What factors determine the bandwidth of a phonograph pickup? Some answers to this question, based on recent theoretical results, will be given in the first part of this paper. The second part will then be used to discuss the practical implications of this theory for the design of wideband pickups. Finally, in the last part, particular pickup design techniques will be described, including an automated design by digital computer.
