Playback Effects from Matrix Recordings

Document Thumbnail

The producer of a recording wishes to have sounds reproduced that duplicate the oral event taking place; thus he must use techniques that combine the input signals in such a manner that the listener can conclude the position of each performer and the type of acoustical environment. He has to consider the playback system in making these choices. This paper reviews appraoches to some of these playback systems using matrixed program sources.
