A New Method for Evaluating the Effectiveness of Sound Amplification Systems in Reverberant Spaces

The method described is based on pulse techniques and permits measuring the increase in the early-to-reverberant sound ratio, due to the operation of the sound system, which results in increased intelligibility. The test yields information concerning the sequence of arrival of sound impulses and the distribution of sound energy in time, not available from measurements made under steady-state conditions.
