Thin Bilaminar Piezodisks Used as Microphone and Telephone Membranes

Document Thumbnail

Properties of thin bilaminar disks of a piezoceramic material are discussed. The acousto-electrical transducer properties can be simply described in terms of the resonance frequency and the coupling constant of the ceramic disk. For example, the sensitivity when used in a microphone does not vary with the disk diameter, provided the resonance frequency remains the same. Thus, the making of thinner disks permits the construction of smaller microphones.
