We have retrofitted a vehicle with location-aware advisories/announcements, delivered via wireless headphones for passengers and "nearphones" or bone-conduction headphones for the driver. Our prototype differs from other projects exploring spatialization of the aural information: besides the commonly used landmarks to trigger audio streams delivery, our prototype uses geo-located virtual sources to synthesize spatial soundscapes. Intended as a "proof of concept" and testbed for future research, our development features multilingual tourist information, navigation instructions, and traffic advisories rendered simultaneously.
