The Harmonic Compressor (HARCO) doubles the information rate of speech or music while maintaining the original frequency and amplitude. In contrast to electro-mechanical systems in present use, HARCO system is electronic. An analysis-synthesis method is used. Input signals at twice the original rate are analyzed by a 36 channel filter bank covering the range of 200-7400 Hz. Frequency of each channel is divided by 2, maintaining envelope information. Summation and filtering follow. HARCO system and circuits will be described. Actual recordings will be demonstrated.
