Third Order Gradient Microphone for Speech Reception

Document Thumbnail

The design and performance characteristics of a third order gradient microphone are described. Its exceptional mid-band audio directivity is compared to theoretically derived response characteristics. The system employs four capacitive transducers coupled to low noise RF bridge circuitry. Portable control electronics allows selection of both unidirectional and bidirectional responses in the school and third order mode.
