The IEM-Cube, A Periphonic Re-/Production System

Document Thumbnail

The IEMcube is a re-/production system for periphonic soundfields. Based on ambisonic principles, this linear 3D-mixing system on PC-basis allows the positioning and movement of a number of virtual soundsources in real-time. Due to the ambisonic approach, the periphonic soundfield is encoded into a set of transmission channels, which is independant of both the virtual sources and the reproducing speaker-array. Thus the presented system may be used as a production-tool for periphonic mixing into a set of ambisonic-channels, as a reproduction-environment for recreating a 3D-soundfield out of such set, and as a live-instrument for free positioning and movement in real-time.
