Show-control systems have been in use in the Theme Park industry for many years and now often form the operational basis for many presentations, exhibitions and themed retail experiences. Despite the fact that the technology has been available at reasonable cost for many years, the theatre industry has been slow to embrace show-control, largely due to a misunderstanding of what these systems are intended to do. This paper sets out to demystify show-control, to encourage exploration and use of such systems in theatrical presentations and to end once and for all the confusion between show-control and sound-system control.
