A new type of listening room which can provide for frequency flat reflections is introducec. This uniform response is achieved by combining elements of an anechoic chamber with those of a reverberant chamber. Acoustic characteristics of the new design and an acutal example are described. Although simple in construction, a comparison with conventional listening rooms indicates that this new design has excellent, as well as easily adjustable sonic characteristics. Finally some possible extensions of the basic design are discussed.
