Time Correction of Anti-Aliasing Filters Used in Digital Audio Systems

Document Thumbnail

Because of the steep rolloff characteristic demanded, anti-aliasing filters as commonly implemented for digital audio systems introduce significant high-frequency delay. A tunable analog phase-shift filter which corrects for this time distortion has been developed, and is here presented. Correction may be done before or after digital processing. The audibility of the effect is discussed, and a phase-corrected 16-bit digital audio recorder used in gathering scientific audio data is described.
