Traditional techniques for measuring the frequency response of audio systems are examined. Discrepancies between measurements and perceived frequency response are discussed, with emphasis on the measurement of signal-dependent systems and noise-reduction systems in particular. Methods for improving the correlation between subjective and objective measurements are presented.
