Further research on speech intelligibility, based on articulation losses as earlier communicated (JAES, vol, 19, p. 915), resulted in a better understanding of the process of information transmission in speech. The most important conclusions of this research will be presented. Moreover, more refined formulae to calculate the information index under the influence of noise, reverberation as well as linear distortion will be given.
