Some of the nonlinear and time-varying characteristics of dynamic loudspeakers are quite different from those of other audio components. These must be understood for the successful design of loudspeakers intended for high sound reproduction levels. Selected nonlinear mechanisms and related distortions are discussed, together with techniques for measuring important driver large-signal parameters.
