The 'Acoustic Resistance Box': A Fresh Look at an Old Principle

Document Thumbnail

Unidirectional woofer systems preferably use resistance-loaded ports, to control the pressure-gradient. Analysis of the acoustical analog circuit shows how to optimize the design for any specific purpose. One can trade between box dimensions, frequency range, and radiation efficiency. The predominantly resistive rear-load on the driver simplifies the application of motional feedback.
