Audio-for-Image: Using the New Hardware for Integrating Sound, Film, and Video

Document Thumbnail

Although quality audio has been important to theatrical film presentations for many years, video has, until recently, relegated sound to a secondary role at best. That is changing, largely because of the advents of 1) music videos, 2) stereo television, and 3) hi-fi consumer video formats. This paper describes the evolution of the new hardware, how it is used to maintain synchronicity, and what it all means to audio engineers who desire gainful employment during the next decade.
