Analysis of Deformation on Coated Paperboard During a Scratch Test by AE

Document Thumbnail

Coated paperboard, which has anisotropic composite structure, is used for packing materials. In the practical die cutting technology, the complicated and fine shape must be machined under the high speed condition precisely. As the insufficient conditions had been supplied, the efficient machining had not been operated. To clarify the deformation and fracture mechanisms of the coated paperboards were investigated using the designed scratch test system. The bending force and Acoustic emission (AE) signals were measured simultaneously on the test. The deformation and fracture behaviors of the paperboards were correlated to the AE characteristics. The scratch test is useful method to evaluate the paperboard characteristics simplify.
