A Practical Ear Enclosure with Selectively Coupled Volume

A practical circumaural ear enclosure is described in which improved low-frequency attenuation is provided by a Helmholtz absorber in the form of an added volume selectively coupled to the enclosure. Some acoustical and mechanical problems associated with selectively coupled volumes are discussed.
