A Hybrid Model for Simulating Diffused First Reflections in Two-Dimensional Synthetic Acoustic Environments

Document Thumbnail

This paper describes an algorithm for the simulation of diffuse first reflections using a hybrid model. The system uses a combination of phenomenological models of reflection with physical models of components of Schroeder diffusers. In addition, the directional characteristics of virtual microphones are simulated and a function simulating the directivity characteristics of a virtual instrument are proposed. The development and analysis of the algorithm are discussed.
