An Interactive Pitch Defect Correction System For Archival Audio
Many archival recordings exhibit pitch irregularities. Short-term pitch defects (t < 1s) are often caused by defects in the physical medium, while longer term (t >> 1s) variations result from imperfections in the record/playback chain. Tape stretch is particularly troublesome. This paper describes an interactive pitch defect correction system that is designed to effectively eliminate gross pitch variations common in historical recordings.
