Practical Experience With Long-Term Cd-R Archiving

Document Thumbnail

CD-R discs have been used for a long term archiving of digitised manuscripts in National Library. A quality of recording has been measured precisely. During the period of four years it has been found that ageing of the discs is not significant. A quality of a medium and a recording unit has been more significant. A control of an initial quality and a possibility of monitoring of ageing is necessary for the long term archiving on CD. A checking only through a verification of record is not sufficient.
