Dates: August 7th-9th, 2018 (with pre-event on 6th)
Location: Tokyo, Japan

Many practical technologies have been developed in the area of spatial audio since the last international conference in Tokyo, AES International Conference on Spatial Audio —Sense the Sound of Space—, was held in 2010. We have managed to handle the technology and used it to create countless works since then. In the light of such technology-driven content creation, it may be the time to address ourselves to the aesthetics in audio production.

The committee is expecting discussions in the following topics:

• How can the Spatial Audio technology contribute to music and other artistic productions?
• What technologies and scientific knowledge are expected from musicians and the content creators?
• What are the keys for connecting Science and Aesthetics in this area?

What's New

2018-08-10: Thank you all

The conference committee is so grateful for having over 200 registered attendees (close to 230 to be somewhat more precise?) and more than 60 attendees for the exhibits-only access. We think that the conference was a big success, but this was never possible without your participation. Thank you! thank you! and let the good discussion on spatial audio going!

2018-08-09: No schedule change for Day 3

The gale warning due to the typhoon No.13 is currently not issued by Japan Meteorological Agency, and we received the information that the buildings can be used as usual. There will be no change in the conference program for Day 3. However, please note that strong wind may cause delays in the public transportation. Also, a higher temperature is expected today.

2018-08-08: About tomorrow (Day 3)

Due to passing typhoon No.13 the weather condition is unstable in Tokyo. We'll be posting the information about any schedule changes first thing tomorrow (possibly by 7am) here and on the Japan Section's Facebook page.

2018-08-08: How Does the Typhoon Affect Our Program on Day 2?

All conference programs are going to be held as scheduled. However, the building where paper/workshop are held will be locked at 7 pm, and no person will be allowed to get in and out of the building after then. You are kindly requested to proceed to the cafeteria for the banquet with all your belongings by 6:30 pm.
