Author's Affiliation Index of Audio Engineering Society Publications
Jay McKnight, AES Historical Committee, Chair Emeritus
Finding an AES paper is easy enough when you know the title and/or
author -- just go to the AES Journal Article Database Search.
But I find that sometimes all I remember is the author's
affiliation -- the paper came from someone whose name I can't remember,
at, for instance, the Bell Telephone Labs. Then a search is very
difficult,
because the Journal has no such index, and I don't believe that anyone
else does either; and if you search the texts in the Electronic Library for Bell Telephone Labs, you get every published reference to them -- not much help!
To assist with such a search, I have made an "Author's Affiliation Index", based on the "Microsoft Excel" index of 10'500 AES
publications. So with that file, you can go directly to, in this case, "Bell
Telephone Labs", and see all of their published authors and paper titles.
If you don't have Excel, you can get a free reader .
One word of caution is necessary: Many company names take several forms
in their published papers, as shown by the following examples:
"Bell Laboratories", "Bell Labs", "Bell Telephone Laboratories", or "Bell-Laboratories"
"Eugen Beyer" or "Beyerdynamic"
"British Broadcasting Company", or "BBC"
"Bang & Olufsen", or "Bang and Olufsen"
"Studer Professional", or "Willi Studer"
So if you don't find what you're looking for in the alphabetical listing, use the "find" function (binoculars icon).
The AES Journal will eventually be adding this affiliation index to
their "Journal Article Database Search", but, in the meanwhile, you'll
find it here.
My thanks to Chuck Booye, at Magnetic Reference Laboratory, for compiling this list.
