About

I am an audio consultant with a long track record of successful delivery of audio innovation, especially in the field of broadcast. My achievements include the acclaimed "HD Sound" service for BBC Radio 3, surround and binaural sound rendering in the browser using HTML5 and BBC Proms Concerts delivered live in 4.0. I work on MPEG-H Next Generation Audio for Fraunhofer, undertake reviews of broadcast resilience, acoustic performance of studios and also work for several audio manufacturers and systems integrators.

Non-AES Awards & Award Nominations

My audio object experiment "Netmix" from the UK Wimbledon tennis championships won an innovation award at NAB. I received the BBC Radio "Gold" award in 2015.

Education Background

I am a Chartered Engineer registered with the Institute of Engineering and Technology.

Employment History

1979 - 2015 at BBC Radio, including the Radiophonic Workshop, Maida Vale Studios and Broadcasting House. Studio maintenance and design, systems design, technology strategy and, as Head of Technology, responsibility for a multi-million pound budget.

2015 on. Audio Innovator at my own company, Brun Audio Consulting Ltd, providing a service to broadcasters, research organisations including Fraunhofer IIS and equipment manufacturers and systems integrators worldwide. I also contribute to numerous international standards through DVB and HbbTV.
