About

I am a PhD candidate at Newcastle University. My supervisors are Dr Phillip McIntyre and Assoc. Prof. William Martens (University of Sydney).

My research project is titled "Hyper-compression in Music Production: the Creative Context of the Aesthetics of Loudness".

I enjoy researching and writing about various areas in audio, in particular psychoacoustics and the systems models of creativity in audio production.

Before research, I worked as a music producer and audio engineer for over 20 years. In the late 90s/early 00s got to a very high level within the industry in Australia working with many well known acts. I worked at major studios in Sydney for many years including Studios 301, Albert's and The Grove. My role in most of these studios was chief engineer and/or in-house producer.

Apart from the music production, I also composed music with another academic Dr Sean Lowry. We had a production company called 'Brandeluxe' and had music placed in a multitude of TV commercials, TV shows and Hollywood films.
