About

Mary Mazurek is a GRAMMY-nominated recording engineer and audio educator. Her nomination was awarded by the Recording Academy during the 61st Annual GRAMMY Awards in the category of Best Engineered Album, Classical. She is currently an assistant professor of Digital Audio Arts at the University of Lethbridge. Her professional recording work can be heard on WFMT Radio and WFMT.com and on the Cedille, Centaur, MSR, Naxos, Sounds True, and Random House labels. She is a sought-after speaker and educator who enjoys contributing to the classroom and on panels and committees within her industry and beyond. She has worked with prestigious artists and entities such as the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Lang-Lang, and Yo-Yo Ma to name a few. Dr. Mazurek serves as a role model and advocate for women in the recording industry, which presently is less than 5% female, and currently serves as the Co-Chairperson of the DEI Committee of the Audio Engineering Society. She holds a BS in Sound Recording Technology from DePaul University, an MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts, Media from Columbia College Chicago, and a PhD from IDSVA in Philosophy, Aesthetics, and Art Theory. Her research areas include audio recording and production, immersive audio, noise art, sound studies, trauma studies, and DEI.
